I’m Anna Britton and I’m the Senior Teacher for Young Learners.
I studied International Business Studies in the UK before doing a teaching qualification and heading off to Spain to learn the language and start teaching. In Spain I taught adults and children before going on to work in marketing and quality assurance and then running a school. I came to Singapore in 2008.
One of my passions is getting my students reading for pleasure. Reading is the basis of all their learning, so I spend time storytelling, choosing books with them, getting them to write a weekly book review and talking to them about books they’ve enjoyed.
In my free time I love travelling, trying new food, cooking and – reading!

Krystine Joyce
I’m Krystine Joyce and I’m the Deputy Country Director.
I arrived in Singapore in September. I’ve also worked for the British Council in Bahrain, Sri Lanka, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. After I graduated from Royal Holloway University of London in 1997, I moved to Japan where I taught adults and young learners for two years. I then taught in Spain until I joined the British Council in 2001.
I believe strongly in continuing professional development and I’m keen to provide teachers with development opportunities to better understand and meet your needs so you can achieve your goals in learning English. I’m also interested in your experience outside the classroom at the British Council and what we can do to enhance it.
I saw more rain in my first week in Singapore than I did in 2 years in Bahrain and I continue to be overwhelmed by how green everywhere is! I’m looking forward to exploring the country and getting to know some of you in Napier Road or at the other centres.

Jennifer Tan
I’m Jennifer Tan and I teach young learners and adults.
I’m from Liverpool and after studying English Literature in Bristol, I moved to Spain and taught English for two years. I’ve been in Singapore since 2008.
I really love the challenges involved with teaching young learners and I am very happy to be a part of the team at British Council. Teaching kindergarten classes is a new experience for me and I love having the freedom to get creative and the demand for thinking on my feet – no two classes are the same!
When I’m not in school you can probably find me practising Crossfit or yoga, getting stuck into a good book, watching a film or trying out new restaurants with friends.

Ed Gibbons
I’m Ed Gibbons and I’m the Senior Teacher for adult courses.
I grew up in the UK and after working in London for seven years I trained to become a teacher in 2001. Since then I’ve worked in Poland, Spain, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Morocco and now Singapore, teaching students of all ages and levels.
I believe that helping students to relax and enjoy themselves in the classroom increases their confidence and makes them more receptive to learning. I am also very keen on students building up their vocabulary, through reading and talking to other students, as it is crucial to language learning.
When I’m not working I like driving my scooter, cooking, watching cricket and settling down with a good book.
